Very rare later ed. of the “Summa Angelica” of the Franciscan canon lawyer Angelo Carleti
(1411-1495), 1st printed at Chivasso in 1486. His alphabetically arranged encyclopaedia of cases
of conscience was very popular, although Luther detested it and had it publicly burned in 1520.

violent à l’égard des organisateurs du massacre de la Saint-Barthélémy. La reine Mère subit une
attaque violente tandis que Charles IX est disculpé d’avoir participé à une quelconque tuerie.
L’ouvrage exhorte la nation, les princes français et la reine d’Angleterre à délivrer la France de la
reine mère. Des astrologues ont prédit “quelle ruinera la maison en laquelle elle prendra alliance”.
L’ouvrage dresse l’histoire de la Saint-Barthélémy et expose des parallèles historiques, sans oublier
un message politique fort à l’adresse des gouvernants.” (Le Feu Follet). “Ouvrage très rare,
renfermant le récit de tous les malheurs dont les Protestants furent victimes et qui firent de notre
France une Turquie” (Cat Stroelin II:1140).
