Outre les précisions quotidiennes d’usage sur la situation du navire,
les conditions météo-océanographiques, la vue d’autres navires, et
divers incidents comme les réparations de l’attirail, le châtiment de
membres de l’équipage (ivrognerie, vol, outrage), la réception de vivres
et d’eau, les offices religieux, etc., ce volume consigne l’embarquement
et le débarquement de son célèbre passager NAPOLÉON.

accompagné de Lord Keith et des personnes suivantes : le comte
Bertrand, sa femme, trois enfants, une domestique et son enfant,
le général Montholon, sa femme, un enfant et une domestique
femelle, le général Gourgaud, le comte de « Las Casas » et son fils,
neuf domestiques et un chirurgien…
Mardi 17 octobre
. Débarqué le
général Buonaparte et sa suite (« Landed Genl Buonaparte & suite »)…
Le
Northumberland
fit voile le 19 juin suivant et se dirigea vers l’île de
l’Ascension, prenant ses repères par rapport au Cap Vert, au Cap des
Palmes, aux Açores etc., pour revenir au Sud-Est de l’Angleterre. La
dernière entrée fait état du paiement de l’équipage, à Sheerness (Kent).

Logbook of the
HMS Northumberland
, the ship that
transported Napoleon I into captivity on the Island of Saint Helena.
In addition to the daily and usual information on the situation of the
ship, the meteorological and oceanographic conditions, the sighting
of other ships, and various incidents such as repairs to equipment
on board, the punishment of members of the crew (drunkenness,
theft, contempt), the delivery of food and water, religious services,
etc., this logbook records the embarkation and disembarkation of its
famous passenger NAPOLEON.

accompanied by Lord Keith and the following persons: Count Bertrand,
his wife, three children, a servant and his child, General Montholon,
his wife, a child and a female servant, General Gourgaud, the count
of «Las Casas» and his son, nine servants and a surgeon ...
Tuesday,
October 17. Landed General Buonaparte and his suite («Landed Genl
Buonaparte & suite»).
The
Northumberland
sailed the following June 19 and headed for
Ascension Island, taking its bearings from Cape Verde, Cape Palmes,
the Azores, etc., to return to South East England. The last entry
mentions the payment of the crew at Sheerness (Kent).
