Verzameling van zo’n 60, meest religieuze, (gelegenheids)gedichten en enkele liederen, 1778-1796
– vermoedelijk autograaf met correcties. Pieter-Antoon van Heusden (Antwerpen 1738 – Leuven
1797) was jezuïet tot de ontbinding van de orde in 1773, werd dan kartuizer, tot ook die orde in 1783
werd opgeheven. Een selectie van zijn verzen werd gepubliceerd door P.-C. Cassier (Antwerpen
1856). Achteraan bijgevoegd: planodruk (beschadigd) met een gedicht voor de intrede van Joanna
de Becker bij de Witte Vrouwen te Leuven op 22 oktober 1793.

smaller sheets with additional notes bound with. Good condition.

Interesting bifolium from a manuscript of the major school text of the Middle Ages: a versified
Latin grammar composed by the French Franciscan Alexander de Villadei (Villedieu-les-Poêles,
Normandy, c. 1175-1250). Present are ll. 877-980 (ed. Reichling, 1893, pp. 59-64 – with many
variants). Used as a school text with very tiny interlinear and marg. student’s notes.

littera cursiva (marg. staining, holes in blank inner margin). In good condition.

Nice bifolium, containing Bk X, 17-28 of Aristotle’s Nicomachean Ethics in the Renaissance Latin
version of Leonardo Bruni of Arezzo (1370-1444). This version is preserved in many manuscripts
and early printed editions (e.g. Paris, S. de Colines, 1535: on ff. 38-39). In the margin of 1 p. a
16th-c. hand wrote “In hoc signo vinces” (the famous “IHS”, ascribed by Lactantius to Emperor
Constantine the Great).

blue penwork. Rubric in red. Blank line endings filled out in red, yellow or blue. Border decoration
in fore-edge margin with red, blue or green leaves touched with gold. Texts: on f. 1r i.a. quotation
from Psalm 7 and beginning of the Office of the Dead.

littera bastarda. Gilt one- or two-line initials with blue or red penwork. Rubric in red. Blank line
ending filled out in red, yellow and blue. Marginal decoration (on recto only) with small green and
blue leaves touched with gold. Text starting with quotation from Hebrews (3:9-11).
