Extr. rare ed. (5th recorded copy?) of this satirical dialogue by the German humanist K. Nesen
(1495-1560) on the opposition of the Louvain theologians against the teaching of Greek and Hebrew
(Collegium Trilingue!). In Louvain rumor had it that
Erasmus
must have been its true author.

Only ed.
of the Latin trsl. of a dialogue of the Greek satirist Lucian (2nd c. A.D.) by the Nürnberg
humanist W. Pirckheimer (1470-1530). It is accompanied by a long defense of the Hebrew scholar
Johann Reuchlin (1455-1522). Reuchlin had been vehemently attacked by J. Pfefferkorn (1469-
1521), who wanted to suppress all Hebrew writings. To Pirckheimer Reuchlin was the archtype of
the ideal theologian. Title within elaborate border. Larger woodcut mark at end. Cont. ms. notes to
the Lucianus text.
