Au compositeur, musicologue et folkloriste toulousain J. Poueigh (1878-1956). Sur son opéra
“Héliogabale” (créé aux Arènes de Béziers en août 1910): “Héliogabale touche à sa fin, je viens de
le précipiter dans le Tibre à coups de trombones, de gongs et même d’Alleluhia! (...) Il y a beaucoup
de danses (même un grand ballet)”. Il explique comment il procède pour l’orchestration qu’il n’a
malheureusement pas le temps de réaliser lui-même: “J’ai considéré mon orchestre comme un gd
orgue divisé en plusieurs claviers (...) J’indique sur mon esquisse d’orchestre les timbres désirés
soit une couleur d’ensemble soit un détail (...)”. Il évoque également Joseph Charry, un temps
directeur des Arènes de Béziers: “Il faudra le voir avant Béziers car tu devines s’il va être sollicité”.

Belgian customs authorities: he has to go to Antwerp to take part in a festival “des Nouveaux
concerts”. He adds “Je suis porteur d’un passeport français ce qui est mentionné dans le document”
and asks him to send the letter, care of Pleyel.

Josef Bahn...”. Heinrich Bohrmann-Rieger (1838-1908) was a librettist.
