Rare collection
of the 1st newspaper published in Luxembourg. The 1st part appeared in 1704
by Cl. Jordan and André Chevalier. From 1773 on the montly periodical was published under a
different name: “Journal historique et littéraire”. The number of 1 march 1788 is thought to be
the first to be publ. in Maastricht by Cavelier although this assumption remains unclear (Van der
Vekene). Between 1773 and 1794 the “Journal historique” was edited and in great part written by
the Jesuit F.X. de Feller (1735-1802), Belgian author and Louvain professor. Due to a declining
interest the publication ceased in july 1794.
