1497 confirming the common hypothesis. The Dominican friar and Archbishop of Florence

Antoninus (1389-1459) created the oratory of the “Buonomini di San Martino” and was

canonised in 1523. This work, meant to support the clergy in their interrogation of the

common people, was often reprinted until the 17

in 1812 and then recreated another collection in Florence (emblazoned ex-libris); Henry

Roman Republic by Appian (c. 95-160). First classical work printed by Charles Estienne

using the Garamond’s Grecs du Roi displayed in a very neat typography with ornemental

head-pieces and initial letters by Geoffroy Tory (?); printer’s mark on the title-page. Work

begun by Charles Estienne and his brother Robert but finished by the first.
