Le colophon est daté du 11 juin 1509 selon le calendrier julien (en vigueur jusqu’en 1582), ce qui
correspond au 22 mai 1509 (comme décrit par Stanford).
Même édition que l’exemplaire A précédent.
Néanmoins, ces deux exemplaires présentent une différence de tirage : l’initiale E sur fond criblé qui
ouvre le titre, est noire dans cet exemplaire B, rouge dans l’exemplaire A ; on remarque également un
décalage dans le positionnement horizontal des caractères imprimés en rouge sur le titre.
L’ouvrage est orné de 129 figures gravées sur bois dans les marges et de nombreuses lettrines ornées.
Exemplaire lavé, discrètes restaurations (marges intérieures des premiers feuillets, et angulaire f. ciii) ;
titre tâché.

Rare first edition of one of the rarest and most important early Euclids, prepared by Luca Pacioli and
appearing within a month of the
De Divina Proportione.
As explained in the preface, the work was
prepared at the behest of Leonardo da Vinci, whom Pacioli knew. This copy with the capital “E” on
criblé ground printed in black.
