Famous work of Alken (1785-1851), painter and engraver of sport and coaching scenes, concerning hawking, racing, fox-hunting, water-hen shooting, cock-fighting, otter spearing, etc. Illustrated with an engraved title dated 1821 and 50 hand-coloured lithographies by I. Clark after Alken, accompanied by explanations in English and French. The edition of 1821 is commonly known as the princeps though an edition has been published in 1820.
