browned, wormholes passim, margins reinforced/repaired in the beginning, rare marginal handwritten notes). 17th Century binding : marbled calf, gilt decorated ribbed spine with gilt monograms, red edges (wormholes, joints partly split, handwritten notes on the upper flyleaf repaired in the margin, some edges and corners dulled, slightly trimmed).
First edition under the title "Exemplorum omnium sacrosanctae scripturae" of the famous and very popular work "Virtutum vitiorumque exempla [...]" called the "Biblia pauperum" (1st ed. : 1477). This book is a compilation of extracts from the Bible (on malediction, homicides, abstinence, adoration, pauperty, miracles...), imitating Valerius Maximus, giving examples to pursuit a proper Christian life. Typographical title within a woodcut frame figuring on the sides Saint Paul and Saint Pieter, above the conversion of Saint Paul and below pilgrims near a fontain with a man showing the Holy Scriptures.
