Description
Herein likewise is shewed what customes the Hebrewes borrowed from Heathen people : and that many heathenish customes, originally have beene unwarrantable imitations of the Hebrewes. The third edition. London, printed by John Haviland, and are to be sold by Philemon Stephens and Christopher Meredith, 1628. In-4° (text non collated, some marginal stains, some quires partly detached, handwritten notes or provenances). Contemporary binding : calf, boards encircled by blind fillets, ribbed spine with blind fillets, red edges (handwritten notes on upper board and pastedown, slightly rubbed, scratches, small lacks at the turn ins, corners dulled).
Work by the teacher an rector of Brightwell Goodwin (1586/7-1642) dealing with the Rabbis, Herodians, The Gates of Jerusalem, feast of Trumpets, Sabbath, divination forbidden, Teraphim, civil court, capital punishments, circumcision, burials, etc. The first edition was published in 1624. Bound with, same author : Romanae historiae anthologia : recognita et aucta.
