Demi maroquin noir à coins, dos à nerfs sertis de filets à froids, pièce de titre et de tomaison, plats de papier de création rouge et noir par l'atelier de Claude Braun, doublures et gardes du même papier, étuis bordés de maroquin noir et décorés du même papier (Loutrel).

♦ Précieux manuscrit complet, le seul connu de Rigodon, dernier roman de Céline achevé l'année de sa mort.
L'auteur avait le pressentiment de sa mort prochaine et craignait de ne pouvoir l'achever, ainsi qu'on peut le lire dans un passage du roman :
«Je divague, je vais vous perdre, mais c'est l'instinct que je ne sais pas si je finirai jamais ce livre [...] on a qu'une vie, c'est pas beaucoup, surtout moi, mon cas que je sens les Parques me gratter le fil...».

Le 30 juin 1961, son livre est terminé, mais Céline n'aura pas le temps d'effectuer la copie de mise au net.

Le présent manuscrit est le seul qui existe, et c'est à partir de celui-ci que l'édition en sera faite, après la mort du romancier.
Mais un rigodon, en langage militaire, c'est aussi un coup au but, un tir réussi. Et si Céline a choisi le mot, c'est vraisemblablement parce qu'il avait conscience d'avoir écrit un chef-d'oeuvre. Après D'un château l'autre (1957) et Nord (1960), Rigodon, roman autobiographique, conclut la série de trois romans, souvent désignée sous le nom de «trilogie allemande», qui raconte la fuite de Céline pendant l'année 1944 à travers l'Allemagne dévastée par les bombardements alliés. Rigodon reprend le récit à peu près ou Nord l'avait laissé et conte l'équipée de Céline qui cherche à atteindre le Danemark, toujours accompagné de sa femme, Lili dans le roman, de l'acteur Robert Le Viguan (La Vigue) et du chat Bébert. Rigodon sera publié aux éditions Gallimard en 1969. L'on joint à cet ensemble copie d'un certificat de vente autographe signé par Lucie Destouches, veuve de Céline, née Lucette Almansor daté «23.2.91» et authentifiant ce manuscrit comme celui «ayant servi à la maison Gallimard pour l'édition de Rigodon».

Autograph numbering 673-806. Precious complete manuscript, the only one known of Rigodon, Celine's last novel completed in the year of her death. The author had a premonition of her imminent death and feared not to be able to finish it, as we can read in a passage of the novel: "I'm rambling, I'm going to lose you, but it's the instinct that I don't know if I'll ever finish this book [...] we only have one life, it's not much, especially me, my case, that I feel the Fates scratching my thread...". On June 30, 1961, her book is finished, but Céline won't have time to make the clean copy. The present manuscript is the only one that exists, and it's from it that the edition will be made, after the death of the novelist. But a rigodon, in military language, is also a shot on goal, a successful shot. And if Celine chose the word, it's probably because he was aware that he had written a masterpiece. After D'un château l'autre (1957) and Nord (1960), Rigodon, an autobiographical novel, concludes the series of three novels, often referred to as the "German trilogy", which tells the story of Celine's escape in 1944 through Germany devastated by Allied bombings. Rigodon takes up the story where Nord had left her and tells the tale of Celine's equipment as she tries to reach Denmark, always accompanied by his wife, Lili in the novel, the actor Robert Le Viguan (La Vigue) and the cat Bébert. Rigodon will be published by Gallimard in 1969. A copy of an autograph sales certificate signed by Lucie Destouches, widow of Céline, née Lucette Almansor, dated "23.2.91" is attached to this set, authenticating this manuscript as the one "having been used by Gallimard for the edition of Rigodon". Exceptional.
