Très rare
édit. originale

unique
des mémoires du cardinal italien Rinaldo d’Este (1618-1672),
rédigés en français par un de ses proches, cf. préface. Nommé cardinal par le pape Urbain VIII
en 1641, il devint abbé de Cluny en 1661, succédant ainsi au cardinal Mazarin; il participa à
plusieurs conclaves et géra occasionnellement le duché de Modène. Contient e.a. des transcriptions
de corresp. entre le cardinal et le comte de Brienne, secrétaire d’état aux Affaires étrangères sous
Mazarin, et avec d’autres personnalités françaises. Etiq. M. de Lailly. Provenance: famille princière
belge.
