“
Bosboom’s own publication
Perspectiva of Doorzicht-Kunde
from
1703 is a nicely illustrated manual in which he took great pains to
introduce Desargues’s perspective scales more clearly than Bosse had
done
” (Kirsty Andersen,
The Geometry of an Art
, p. 361).
Rare first edition of this thorough text book teaching the art
of perspective after the latest methods by Dirk Bosboom. The
engraver, painter and stone-cutter in the city of Amsterdam
was the son of Simon Bosboom, himself an architect and stone-
cutter, who had worked with Jacob van Campen at the City Hall
of Amsterdam. The books contains many details on distances,
mirrors, source and fall of the light, instruments, etc. and teaches
all knowledge acquired by the author himself. The author was
greatly influence by the Desargues whose ideas he promoted at
the same time as Abraham Bosse.
