taken on the spot. London, printed for J. Debrett, 1804. In-4° : [2]-115-[1 bl.], 177-[4] pp.; 6 pl. (staining, foxing and browning). Contemporary binding : calf leather, boards decorated with double gilt fillets, gilt flat spine, sprinkled edges (damaged and rubbed, boards completely loose, scratches...).
Reedition of the edition published at Fort William in 1803 and consequently without the 2nd and 3rd appendices, published in 1804-1805. Divided in 2 parts with each a separate pagination and illustrated with 6 folding military plans of the several battles (Assye, Delhi, etc.). Several libraries own other copies of this book printed by Debrett or John Stockdale. Contrary to some sources the author is Richard Wellesley and not his brother, although the duke of Wellington played a leading role in this Second Anglo-Maratha War (1803-1805) between the British East India Company and the Maratha Empire in India. # Kress B-4868. ▲ Provenance : Nim Ko Hansrijn [?], Paris 1957 (modern handwritten inscription). fl Réédition de ce récit militaire illustré de 6 plans de batailles dépliants.
