Édition originale, ornée d'une intéressante gravure sur bois en frontispice représentant un lutrin, et renfermant de nombreux airs en musique notée.
Bien complet de la planche dépliante représentant « Della Mano di Guido Aretino » et du rare feuillet d'errata.
« This monastic instruction manual teaches the elements of contrapuntal chant and the choral scale in 50 lessons. The folding plate depicts a mnemotic device in which musical notations are superimposed upon the finger joints of an outstretched hand and correlated to a chart of scales printed upon the palm. These notations derive from the celebrated Guido of Arezzo, the Benedictine considered by many to be the father of modern music » (RISM).
