first visit to Egypt at President Sadat’s invitation, I would like to
share my main impressions with you. 1. It is clear to me that the
present Egyptian leadership is firm in its desire to continue the
peace process (...) In conclusion, this, my first visit to a country
which for years was Israel’s greatest ennemy, was an extremely
moving and important experience (...) I found a public which
bears its poverty with enormous restraint and which wants
peace very much. Peace with Egypt seems assured”...,

que ces derniers jours, le sentiment que nous affrontons un
tournant très critique dans la destinée du Proche Orient, voire
du monde entier. Ces moments sont assez rares dans la vie d’un
homme mais lorsqu’ils émergent subitement, on se sent (...)
inadéquat et accablé d’un immense sentiment de responsabilité
(...) Je n’ai pas l’intention (...) de vous infliger un compte rendu
détaillé du débat parlementaire (...) le problème crucial du
moment n’est pas la forme de l’accord sur le Sinaï (...) il s’agit
véritablement d’un tournant, et nous devons tous répondre
