and accurate description of the Wild Sports of the East (...) authored by Captain Thomas Williamson
and illustrated by W. S. Howitt” (c. 1765-1822), published by Thomas McLean in London 1818-
19. Present are “Killing game in boats”, “Hog-hunters meeting by surprise a tigress & her cubs”,
“Smoking wolves from their earths”, “The Ganges breaking its banks; with fishing, etc.”, “Shooting
a tiger from a platform”, “Decoy elephants catching a male”, “The common wolf trap” & “Driving
elephants into a keddah”.

artist Fr. Kierdorff (Trier 1777 - The
Hague 1855), announcing a reward for
a miniature portrait lost in Ghent by
the painter Maya. Although Kierdorff
is recorded in Ghent since 1820, no
dated lithograph by him has been
recorded before 1822. The present one
must have been published at the end of
October or the beginning of November
1821.
