lithographies (9 en couleurs et 15 en noir dont 3 sur doubles pages) ont été effacées après
tirage. Tirage non justifié à grand nombre sur papier bouffant de Casteljoux. Avec une suite,
complète, des illustrations sous volume séparé.

First edition
of the collection of Eliot's poems "Burnt
Norton" (1936), "East coker" (1940), "The dry salvages"
(1941) and "Little Gidding" (1942). First published
separately, thoses poems are associated to the four
elements and give reflections on the nature of time (in
the theological, historical and physical ways). The "Little
gidding", in wich the author imagined meeting Dante
during the German bombing, is marked with his own
experience as an air warden during the Blitz. Eliot (1888-
1965) considered the "Four Quartets" as his masterpiece
and led him to the Nobel Prize in Literature of 1948.
